We were heartsick and crushed by Mr. Rabin's death.
We had visited Israel this summer and felt as if we left part of our
hearts there. We hope that his death will not be in vain and that
Israel will be able to know peace in the years to come.

We are so sorry for the family of Yitzhak Rabin and
for everyone in the Middle East who lost such a strong, courageous and
visionary leader. It is easy to hate; it is hard to forgive and learn
to live with those who are different from us. But that is our fate.
Yitzhak Rabin will be missed, but he will not be forgotten.

It is ironic, of course, that Prime Minister Rabin
would be assassinated to thwart the peace process; instead peace may be

sidelines when Mr. Rabin extended the olive branch are deeply saddened

that of his family as the peace process (many believe) will gain new
momentum and respect in his name.

It is always a loss when a fellow Jew is killed, and
it is a disgrace when a jew kills another Jew.

Just as those responsible for Yitzchak Rabin's death must answer for
their misdeeds, Yitzchak Rabin must similarly be held accountable for
his participation in the murder of the Jewish people aboard the
Altalena, and for the victims of Arab terrorism whose murders were
encouraged by Mr. Rabin's foolhardy policies.

Nevertheless, the Jewish people are bereaved by Mr. Rabin's loss as
well. We must stop killing one another and start following the paths
of Torah.

We would like to express our deepest sympathy to
your family, and the people of Israel.

Our daughter Courtney travelled to your country in July with 8 other 13
year old children and

their leader, on an exchange program with Childrens International
Summer Villages. They saw

your beautiful country, and where treated as one of the family in the
homes of the host families.

Courtney will never forget her travels in Israel and all the wonderful
people she met. We hope to

do as well when the Israeli children come to Canada in July 1996. It is
a lost to the whole world

when someone like Mr. Rabin is murdered. We here in Canada can not
begin to understand how life must

be, to always have to be alert to dangers. It is to bad that we adults
can not get along more like the

children. It seems that they can be put together and learn from each
other tolerance and understanding.

Mr. Rabin's goal is attainable, and well worth any efforts by all the
people in the Middle East. We hope

that it will come for all of you.

Shalom from Canada, the Schreiter Family

A soldier who can change direction and work for
peace is a hero. Much as my religious aspirations and Zionist dreams
wish for an undisturbed entirely Jewish homeland, the reality is that
we live in a world of competing rights. The State we have is due to
legal actions of the United Nations and the international community's
recognition of that state. It has nothing to do with our hopes and
aspirations for maschiachzeit (sigh).

I watched the funeral and felt that I was really there; went to work
with the

same heavy heart. I was disappointed to see how many of my co-workers
did not share my sentiments. The rift inthe Jewish community here and
in Israel is a tragedy which must be healed.

My children, Civia Aliza Witt and Malka Israela Witt and my husband
Stuart V. Witt share in my condolences to the Rabin family and to our
brethren.

Dear Lea Rabin!

We are deeply sorry for your loss, and ours as a matter of fact, but we
feel we have to say

something to you:

We live in Ariel, and heard the Media making a big fuss out of nothing
when Yona Elian

said she was in Ariel at the murder day.

We wanted to tell you, that in that show were only 2 people from Ariel,
and all the rest

were citizens of Emanuel, Kedumim and other places.

The people who were "supposabely" happy when the announcement was
givven,

do not by all means reprisent The citizens of Ariel and our feelings.

We think that your refusal to accept the children of Ariel that came to
consult you

and family was hurting and not justified, especially from someone at
your position.

Also we'd like to say that these children didn't understand nor care
about politics,

and only came because in school they taught them that this is a very
sad event.

Even if we did not agree with Mr, Rabin's political way in his life, we
are still moulning

with the rest of the israeli people, and think that this murder was and
is the most terrible

thing that ever happend in and to Israel.

Like so many around the world who long for peace for

Israel and believe it must happen now, I am deeply saddened.

Why must we kill peacemakers? Why can we not learn to

accept the principles of democracy, to abide by majority

rule and acknowledge the equal rights of all to differing

beliefs? If we do not somehow reach those who are so sure

of their own righteousness that they can kill and feel they

are justified, we are doomed to experience such tragedies

again. Let us dedicate ourselves to eliminating such

ignorance and arrogance, to teaching all how to see the

humanity and dignity in others with whom we disagree.

In my country, and now in Israel, a rabid form of intolerance

is growing and the peace-loving majority must not remain

quiet. We owe it to the Rabin family, and ourselves.

To Israel, I am deeply grieved by the death of a
soldier who fought for peace in his homeland. Although, his politics
were such that it divided many people along political lines, I believe
that peace in Israel would be to the benefit of all! Yitzhak Rabin
understood this and worked diligently to achieve these goals. May his
work not be waisted but instead be a building block to a more peaceful
Israel and World.

I would also like to express my hope for a true peace

 - meaning living all together and excepting one another -

not just for Israel, but for the entire world. We need peace

and we must never forget those persons that have fought for

peace not by means of arms but through true words and deeds.

This act of cowardness has shown that religion should only be taken

I hope that Yitzhak Rabin will once see together with all of us

world peace. Isn't that something to dream and work for.. We must

I just want to add my sincere personal sympathies to

In addition as Israel citizens you must feel an additional loss and
incredible

anguish and shock.

I am none of the above but I still want to express my sympathy and
bewilderment

that anyone can justify this kind of action for any reason. Life is so
valuable

and his in particular was so important to the entire region. It is
hard to

believe that anyone could believe that their own personal convictions
could

justify this kind of act.

I keep hearing comparisons to other assasinated leaders, like Lincoln,
whose loss in

the end make the outcome of that conflict more difficult for the ones
who brought

about his murder. I believe Rabin was a good and honorable man who was
trying to lead

his nation to a peace that would have been best for the entire area.
And he was right

that hatred and violence needs to end. It still does and I hope that
even this terrible

It takes great courage to work and fight for peace
after many years of conflict and war. It is ironic that when peace is
seriously proposed, there are often hardliners on both sides of the
peace process who try to undermine the peace process. This happened to
Sadat earlier, and now to Prime Minister Rabin. But like Mahatma
Gandhi and Martin Luther King, who also died of an assassin'

s bullet, such brave leaders who tried to create a better world and a
more peaceful world for future generations will be long remembered, and
others later will continue to be inspired by their actions and
sentiments. Their dream will live on in the minds and hearts of all
people of good will who work for a better world free of violence and
undue suffering. The dream survives and becomes even more powerful.

My heartfelt sympathy and best wishes and love go to the Rabin family
and to the people of Israel and the Arab countries as they continue on
their joint journey towards peace. We must all commit to do our little
bit to keep the process going--in the Middle East and elsewhere in the
world.

With warm regards, Linda Groff

To the children of light the there is a greater
death to

avoid. And many of us that walk today arer in its grip.

To those who put their personal safety and security aside

to work towards the safety of our neighbor, they have opened

the door to true life. I can only here the words that once

were spoken "God is not God of the dead, but of the living."

In these word I must weigh daily, in this time, am I just the

walking dust, or is god dwelling within this shell extending

life to all who will accept life.

In this life we may fail daily, but now a great soul is in the

service of the army of light, of whom I know, guard the welfare

of my family, and myself. With an armament that will never fail.

And that with effort unceasing, he will search out the sheep

who have strayed from the fold, and alert the master with an

endless duty and enthusiasm for which I admire him.

My service is pledged to your family, as god will allow. And

I hope someday to extend my life to the security that Yitzhak

My first reaction upon hearing Mr. Rabin's death
was

of amazement and shock. To me, it seemed unthinkable that one

who strove so hard for peace would be gunned down in cold blood

by one of his own people. It shattered the image of unity that

I had of Israel. I hope that Mr. Rabin's death would not be

forgotten, and that Israelis unite towards peace. Let not the

extremists and the radicals destroy the unity forged by the

many wars. Only now, speak not of war, but of peace.

had such an important role in the conquering of territory for the

State of Israel understood more than anyone else that territory

The killing of Prime Minister Rabin is a great
loss to whoever is concerned with a real peace.

I am one of the Syrian Jews that were able to leave Syria after the
begining of the peace process..

I wanted and still want this process to continue, because I feel
selfish to desire anything else.

Simply because I left Syria as a result of this process and I want
everyone else to benefit from it also..

I also want to move freely between Syria and Israel.

Mr. Rabin was a great man to the peace and to Israel...

He insisted on security and peace.

I trust the Israeli goverment to keep that word for the sake of our
relatives, friends, and all jews.

He also affirmed not to give back a piece of Yerushalaim...

I fully support the peace process and Oslo2, but please keep
Yerushalaim united as the capital of Israel and only for our Jewish
State.

One last point, I go to Yeshiva University, a religious school..
Although not every one at school shares me my opinions, they all share
my anger at what had happened.

Nonetheless, a great number of people, although not the majority, share
my opinions about the peace process.

Therefore, please Mr. Peres, I pledge you to reach out to the opponents
of the process, whether religious or secular, to unify our people.

Mr. Rabin was, is, and for ever will be a great hero of the Jewish
people....

Nonetheless, I am sure that Mr. Peres will follow Mr. Rabin's steps for
the good of Israel and our people.

			Yours Sincerely,

A Syrian Jew: Mourad S. Ballas

Klal Yisrael lost a great leader with the murder of
Prime

Minister Rabin and to differing extents we all bare some

guilt for his death. As a people but more importantly as

individuals we must look inward and do Teshuva for our

own actions or inactions instead of looking to blame

other goups or individuals for what they have done.

If we emerge from this tragedy as a stronger nation and

as better people more united to achieve the vision of

peace for which the Prime Minister gave his life, then

the Prime Minister's death will not have been in vain.

Barbara and I would like to send our personal condolences

to the family of the late Prime Minister.

the quest for peace for our sake - but mostly for our

children. We have initiated a group dedicated to the idea

of peace as a state of existance, which takes on new meaning

in light of the new age dawning on this desert region.

Striving to educate peace and promote it in its myrad of forms,

we are planning the foundation of a center near Jerusalem.

We hope such an effort would reduce - if not eliminate - any

Indeed, the loss of Mr. Rabin is not only a loss for the state of
Israel, of which I am part of, but it is also a loss for humanity.

Since I have been a child, I am 31 now, I have admired Mr Rabin for
his courage, intelligence, being "dougri," as well as his warmness and
particular sence of humor.

I will never forget the stories that my uncle had told me about the war
in 48-49. There he fought under Itzchak Rabin's command over the hills
of Jerusalem. I was a small child when those stories were told to me,
and ever since I have had great respect for, your beloved, Mr. Itzchak

Please accept my condolences on your father's/Grandfather's death,

we all express our sympathis deep down in our hearts. I have visited

i also felt ashamed. I was

ashamed of my countrey and i was ashamed of breathing the same air
which fanatics breath each day.

Yitzhak Rabin was a great leader. We must continue
his legacy for peace. Also those who have some moral (not legal)
responsibility must pay in the ballot box
