This great man's death struck the whole country

and in fact the whole world like a shoking bolt of lightning.

As we try to pick up the pieces and stand on our feet after

the terrible grief we must learn the lesson of whats happened -

never let the hope blind your eyes, for there points of darkness

along the way.

Dont let the light of all those candles blind you to the fact there

are people that still will do enything to stop the peace.

Be prepared and dont close your eyes and if we all do that

from now on it means that we learned something and may

god help us and protects us all along the way, and things

like this terrible murder will never happen again.

on taking two steps back. My family and myself send their condolences
to the family and friends of the departed Yitzhak Rabin. I pray every
day that everyone everywhere will at least learn that violence is not
the answer to solving what you do not like; that murder is beyond two
steps backwards but rather is like a giant leap over a bottomless pit.
What some people need is to learn how to love. Let us follow in
Rabin's footsteps and teach those who do not know how to learn or

tragedies. Although I have no connection with Israel or any

My deepest sympathies to all. Rabin was always a
part of the

struggle to make and keep Israel free. He understood all that

was necessary. He understood when it was necessary to fight.

And he understood peace can never be achieved by attempting to

dominate the other side for that will ensure that the other

side will always be your enemy. The more enemies you have,

the less peace you have. Neither Jews nor Palestinians will

ever be able to displace the other, so they must become

friends or else neither will survive. That was Rabin's

vision, may he rest in peace.

	A Cloak of Sorrow

You know that feeling, the eyes still slightly red from a recent
cry, the tightness in the throat and that ache in the pit of your
stomach. That deep sadness that creeps over you and refuses to leave.
In fact, it is that special kind of sadness that you dont allow to
leave you, because it is somehow a consoling sadness, you wrap
yourself in this cloak of sorrow and it fits, it fits too well.

I cant possibly add to the moving words of eulogy that were spoken
today by people who knew Yitzhak Rabin better than I, so I will not
try. Those words moved us all and each time I hear them played and
replayed I am moved no less. And those fickle tear ducts constrict
again and the drops trickle down my cheek. And yet I did not know the
man. So why did I stand for hours waiting unsuccessfully to pass by
his coffin, then make the effort to pay my respects as his coffin made
its final way to Har Herzl? Why has Yitzhak Rabins tragic
assassination made such a searing impact on us?

We mourn the man, we feel for his wife, children and grandchildren.
But there is more. Yitzhak Rabin was more than just our elected
leader. He was more than simply the man who took our country and
turned it down the paths that actively seek peace. ( That same
course whose end was enshrouded in such fog that there were many who
refused to tread its path. ) Yitzhak Rabin symbolized Israel itself.
His personal history mirrors the state. Born to immigrant parents from
eastern Europe, member of the pre state Palmach, Commander in the
Hagana, delegate to the armistice talks of 1949, Chief of Staff in the
Six day War, Ambassador to the US, Prime minister during the Entebbe
rescue, Minister of Defense when the Intifada broke out, and of course
Prime Minister as the country finally makes peace with its neighbors.
Like Forrest Gump he seems to turn up at every important turn, playing
a lead role. Each time we looked up there was Yitzhak.

And now theyve gone and killed him. The Israel that he
personified is no longer the same. The young state, the state of our
dreams and ideals, the state of the kibbutz and the orange groves, the
struggling state where as much as we were different, we were all Jews
and therefore really all the same; the state where as much as we argued
and raised our voices and yelled we knew it didnt mean anything
because we were all Jews, we would never harm each other, we were
different from the other countries in that respect. Here in the Jewish
state it would be different. We would show them how to run a country.
That state is no longer. It died with Yitzhak Rabin.

But I was wrong, they didnt kill him. We killed him. This time
the gun was held in Jewish hands, and Jewish hands pulled the trigger.
And we are all guilty of not having done more to calm the debate, to
understand the real anxieties and validity of each others vision of
that cloudy future. We all bear the responsibilty for being so proud
of our fledgling states economic accomplishments that we forgot that
in a Jewish state, based on Jewish values, it is the social and ethical
accomplishments that are important. So we mourn for you Yitzhak, but
we mourn for the Jewish state that we dreamt of, we mourn for the
Jewish State that we strove to become; we mourn for that body politic
that was intended to be a light unto the nations. For today, with you,
Yitzhak, draped in the flag of our Jewish state, we were accepted as an
equal into the violent family of nations, we were accepted as a blood
brother. But it isnt the way you wanted it to be. And it isnt the
way we wanted it to be. So now, we are all wrapped in our cloak of
sorrow....and it fits.

Dear Mrs. Leah Rabin,

Please accept our sincere condolences on the occasion of your

husband's tragical passing. We know that your personal loss

is as great as it can ever get in life, but please be

consoled by our strong feeling that this tragedy will carry

Israel's peace to it's conclusion and thereby will assure

your children and grandchildren the peaceful, happy life

that all Israelis deserve after 50 years of war and struggle.

Sincerely, Steven and Kris Geiger

I was saddened & sickened by the recent events in
jewish/israeli history.

While I am born and rasied in Toronto, Ontario, Canada -

I have always felt a great affinity to the land of Israel.

When I was 16, I visited Israel for the first time on a trip

arranged through my reform synnagogue. The second we landed and

I disembarked, I new I had finally arrived

in the one place in the world where I truly (as a jew) belonged.

This love affair continued with subsequent trips to Israel, including

my one year university program at Tel Aviv University. During this
year,

(1989-90) I realized something about the political climate of the

country. I realized that it would be next to impossible to have

peace with our enemies (the Arabs & Palestines) if we couldn't

have peace amongst our own people! It seemed to me that the internal

government of Israel (Likud & Labour) couldn't get along, so how

did we expect to get along with others in other countries, who

don't share anything with us ie. a religion.

I'm sure that I'm not the first to have these sentiments & I know

I won't be the last.

Most importantly, I want to show support for Rabin the man not the

political figure. While I may not have agreed with how far he wanted

to go with giving land away - I agree with the underlying

principal. Something had to give - if not now when? If not him then

who.

My deepest sorrows and sympathies are extended to the Rabin
family.

donde los antiguos enemigos se abrazaren ahora como hermanos, en nombre

Mr Rabin passed away because it was his day! It is
not the

killer that is to be blamed. It is destiny. Humans are

programed by their CREATOR in matters of birth, marriage and death.

The killer is programed to kill. We christians are supposed

to forgive as Juses forgave those who crusified Him.

Please tell the court to free this miserable. Let him live

and shed his tears of repent.

Rember that neither Israel nor the Palestinians are receiving

the proper psychological dose of "shake hands" yet. Mass media

and religious leaders and shools MUST understand the new ERA

of the NOBEL PRIZE. How can we brain wash these extremists

who may have lost dear relatives during the conflict, htis needs

top priority in the information policies. Instead of differences,

common grounds should prevail. The idea that a moslem and a jew

are relatives, even if they are not, should be spread.

The idea that the wealth of Israel will cast welfare on the

Palestinians should be be believed, and the idea that the land

will remain and this generation will pass away as other

generations did should be tought in schools. I am glad that in Israel
children at the age of 7 began learning Arabic.

Encourage Mr Arafat to do the same and teach Hebrew aliks.

The orange of the Holy land should be sent as present to all Arab

leader from you through Mr Afrafat. And King Fahd should be

invited by YOU, Madame Rabin, to visit the Holy Mosque

"Al Aqssa". Jerusalem is to be open for Moslem tourists to develop

to be another Mecca, with limited number of tourists at first-

say high ranking moslem politicians, and Mr Arafat can have a residence

there where he can receive them in Peace of GOD.

The economy of Isreal will prosper from tourism, debts will be paid,

the extremists will understand that palestine is israel and israel

is palestine and that a building can contain both. Children

will have their generation`s peace, I hope.

I therefore blame destiny and ask pardon for that miserable!

My father was not killed by bullets but by a mercedes of a physician.

The family took no legal measures, and wept its bitterness

in silence.

An Sudanese proverb says : "illi khalaf ma mat". Mr Rabin

has a family to remember him, not to mention others, as such

he is not dead and cut from memories.

In life we tend to forget that for every begining there is an end.

Mr Rabin has entered the history of Israel and the Arabs,

with its tears and smiles. Samites are both arabs and Israeli. Ismail
is the son

of a combined moslem jewish parents . In this time, YOU

as a family should remember that the peace process that at last began
to cristalize

after ten of years and tons of human blood, brought a final

peace to the peace maker, the Late Mr Rabin. His soul is eternal,

and he is cerainly watching you now and will be doing so for some time

Do NOT SHED TEARS BECAUSE HE IS ENJOING THE OTHER WORLD`S APSOLUTE JOY
AND PEACE.

MY MESSAGE TO YOU MRS RABIN IS TO CONOLIDATE YOUR HUSBAND`S

PEACE PROCESS PRACTICALLY.

PLEASE VISIT ARAFAT IN HIS HOUSE AND DRINK A BLACK COFFEE

WITH HIS FAMILY. ARAFAT IS A PEACE PARTNER WITH YOUR

HUSBAND. YOU TOLD HIM YOU SUPPORT PEACE: THE MESSAGE OF A

VISIT TO HIM IN PALISINE/ISRAEL IS BRING SAD JOY TO THOSE

100 000 that sang the last song, and encourage them not to

stop the song. Give them the signal to continue. And those who

still cry the war cries will learn the lesson of "Bye gones

are bye gones".

I am as sad on Mr Rabin as I am sad on the loss of my father.

I am truely sorry. I dream of seeing my dear childhood friends

birn in Sudan and now living in the Holy Land. I greet you

and long for them. What is the difference between

SALAAM AND SHALOM !

May Jesus, the KING OF PEACE, COMFORT YOU and those who

weep in silance for peace with YOU.

I had an oportunity to visit Israel this summer. I
admired

the friendliness of the people and the beauty of the land.

I also admired the determination of a nation to survive and

prosper when so many in the region wish it would not.

I admired the prime minister for trying to live in peace with

his neighbors without compremising the security of the state.

I only hope that the process will continue, for the benefit

of all the world.

My deepest sympathies to the family, and to Noa, you were the

greatest speaker that day, because you spoke from your heart.

We too are deeply sadened by the death of Israel's Chosen leader

WE will try our best too sow and mend this tear our nation is

going through. We can positively say we have taken the first step

towards this goal. Yet it is the first duty of each and every Jew

to believe within it's heart that differences are not a reason
