Not only have the children of Israel lost a martyr for peace but the Jews in the diaspora have lost a symbol for hope. May G_D grant Israel, the Rabin family and all Jewish people in the world peace and security from this type of destruction. Shalom

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Rabin family, to the Israeli people, and to all of us who believe so strongly in living in peace. I am including the words to a song, adapted slightly to reflect this senseless death. Little girl, don't you forget his face. Laughing away your tears When he was the one who felt all the pain Little girl, never forget his eyes Keep them alive inside I promise to try But it's not the same Keep your head held high Ride like the wind Never look behind Life isn't fair, that's what you said So I try not to care Little girl, don't run away so fast I think you forgot to kiss, kiss him goodbye Will he see me cry when I stumble and fall Does he hear my voice in the night when I call Wipe away all your tears It's going to be alright I fought to be so strong I guess you knew I was afraid You'd go away too Little girl, you've got to forget the past And learn to forgive Me, I promise to try But it feels like a lie Don't let memory play games with your mind He's a faded smile Frozen in time I'm still hanging on but I'm doing it wrong Can't kiss him goodbye But I promise to try. --Madonna

To Mrs. Leah Rabin and Family: As Israelis we have always believed in the concept of "go-ral," that things are fated to be. Somehow, I find this concept inconsolable at this grave time for you and our Nation. As a writer, I find I am at a loss for words, since I know in my heart no words can console you. The very soul of Israel is hurting since three shots rang out against one of Israel's most devoted and cherished sons. The anguish stems not only from the death of a leader of our people, but the death of something within Israeli society as well. The fear and trembling of my own soul will not cease for I believe this abhorent deed may be the harbinger of the decay and disintegration of this land. For as long as I can remember, I have had the highest honor and respect for our soldiers. To know the man who killed the Prime Minister of Israel trained in the elite Golani, and perhaps was assisted by someone in the Givati unit, creates a numbing of my soul. I do not believe this type of pain can ever be absorbed as a passing event and then back to life as usual. This act went beyond the pale of our society. If this act could be conceived and carried out, then anything is possible now within Israeli society. Let us pray that this enormous sacrifice of a beloved son of Israel will sober our people into an awakening -- that if this is the only method we can resort to in order to keep the land intact, then we as a nation do not deserve the "zi-chut" to have this country -- a country born out of the bitter ashes of German hatred, a country that has remained alive for five decades by the enormous sacrifices of ZAHAL. And now this sacrifice that surely must have even God weeping. May you and your beloved family find comfort in the outpouring of love from the entire world. Please tell your magnificent grand-daughter that she touched the whole world with her eulogy. May God give you the strength to endure the unendurable. Barbara Goldscheider

We join all of Israel in mourning the death of Yitzchak Rabin. We are saddened by his passing, and shocked that a Jew could have commited such a horrible and completely unjustifiable act. Regardless of our politics, or our level of religious observance, we must join together to condemn this example of groundless hatred. We can disagree but WE MUST RESPECT EACH OTHER. If we were not sure of this before, the death of Yitzchak Rabin (zichrono l'vracha) must shock us in to reality. In his memory something good must happen. AM YISRAEL CHAI!

It's a pitty that because of this the rest of the world will think that we Jewish people are nothing but terrorists. Now its our dutty to make the rest of the world that we can live in peace with our neighbors A Jewish who wishes peace.

Yitzhak Rabin knew the hardship of unequal struggle as a youth, the joy of victory as a soldier, the wonders of love as a husband and father. He led himself, his fellow soldiers, and finally his country to military victory. This would be enough for most men, but God was pleased to use him to lead himiself, his family, and his country to a larger, more meaningful victory. Grasping the hand of his former enemy he cried for all the world to hear: Enough of blood and tears! The same God who called him to this mission--this ministry--allowed him to see the start of peach in his time. And in His grace, God was pleased to call His servant home with the cries of thousands of supporters and the songs of peace ringing in his ears. Yitzhak Rabin, I salute you, your memory, and the peace for which you gave your last full measure of devotion. a youth, the joy of victory as a soldier, and the wonders of love as a husband and father. This would have been enough for most, but God was pleased to call him to a higher mission. And in His grace God called him home with the cries of thousands and the songs of peace rining in his ears. Yitzhak Rabin, I salute you, your family, your country, and the peace for which you gave your last full devotion.

Yitzhak Rabin was a great leader, a man who devoted himself to the state of Israel and to his people. He played an important role in the building of Israel, and he built it strong together with his people. He was awarded the Nobel peace prize for his important role in the peace process in The Middle East. He was a tough man, but a man highly respected by his people. He fought intensely along with Shimon Peres for The peace process, and I will never forget his words in Washington, addressing the terror, the hate and the bloodshed as he said: "ENOUGH - ENOUGH!" He died fighting for that peace, singing a song for peace. His wish was to see that peace fulfilled, so that his people could live in peace. Together with Peres he managed to bring the peace process on track, and back on track -and forward, again and again. This process must not be derailed, but strenghtened in the times to come. The realization of that peace -that was what he wanted. My thoughts today and in the times to come go to the people of Israel with the hope that the peace will increase. Words can't describe what I feel, but my thoughts and the thoughts of thousands upon thousands of Norwegians go to you in these tragic times with the hopes and wishes of peace.

The life of Prime Minister Rabin exemplifies the courageous qualities that were needed to establish the state of Israel. When I think of Itzhak Rabin I think of the soul of Israel and all that makes Israel a great nation. Many young Israelis should learn from the fine example set by this great leader. Just as the creation of Israel was not easy so it will not be easy to establish peace. It took tremendous courage and perseverance to establish the state against all odds. So too will it take tremendous effort and tenacity to establish peace. I pray that Itzhak Rabin's death will be a wake up call for the people of Israel to cease their internal fighting and unite together to pursue peace in the Middle East. Unity and working together has always served the Jewish people well in the past and will serve us well again if only we will put aside our differences and pursue a common goal. That goal should be peace with security for Israel. I express my heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Rabin, to the entire Rabin family and to the people of Israel. May Ha Shem confort all the people of Israel and give them the strength to go on.

I saw an amazing thing today...something which I didn't think I would ever see in my lifetime. A picture of Yasir Arafat, a self-proclaimed enemy of the state of Israel, paying a shiva call on Mrs. Rabin. It is a tribute to the strength and courage of both Mr. Rabin and Mr. Arafat that so much could be accomplished in one very short lifetime. This picture should also serve as a fitting tribute to Mr. Rabin...and anyone else who has the courage to dream for a peace when surrounded by pessimism and negativism. god bless his memory, his family and those who take on his role to mend the fences in the middle east.

Allow me to express my heartfelt sorrow and deepest condolences to Leah Rabin and the rest of the Rabin family. A very great man has been martyred, and we are all the poorer for it, but your loss is far greater than mine. May you find comfort somehow in the days to come, in the knowledge that he lived life to the fullest, accomplished more than most of us could dream of, and died a martyr for peace. I weep with you, and pray that good will come out of this terrible evil, and that peace for Israel and all and her Arab neighbors may yet be achieved in the near future.

I learned that it is an honor to serve in the I.D.F. and protect your country and the lives of fellow Jews. I don't understand how someone can go against what Israel is all about and kill anyone, let alone Yitzhak Rabin. I am sorry for the pain and sorrow that the Rabin family is going through and for the pain that the country is going through. Please e-mail me feedback an things that are going on in Israel.

I saw the late Mr. Rabin in the Supermarket in Givatayim back in 1977 when he was campaigning for the parliamentary elections in Israel. He was preceded by several security guards who mostly checked out the shelves to make sure that no suspicious objects were surreptitiously left behind. No one would have thought of keeping the shoppers away from Mr. Rabin. This is our 3rd attempt to build a Jewish state and civilization, the conditions have never been and never will be more favorable, let us nott squander our chances. This would be our greatest testimony to the memory of the late Prime Minister Rabin.

In being a martyr to a just cause like peace in the Middle East, Yitzhak Rabin can be compared to the martyrdom of Jesus Christ and Abraham Lincoln. Like Christ, Rabin was accused by fellow Jews of being a traitor. Yigal Amir, his assasssin, is the 1990's Judas Iscariot. Like Judas, he betrayed Rabin as a fellow Jew, and literally crucified Rabin on his cross of militant anti-government ideologies. Like Lincoln, rabin wanted to keep his country united by leadiung toward the right path, peace and like Lin

The strength of Leah and her family is an inspiration to the world that is beginning now. There is no courage. There is only the courage of a soldier who turns his back to the guns to extend one empty hand to erase his enemy and replace him with a cousin. May three shots wake all of us up and call us to stand together, to leave our nightmares and turn to the work of a new day. It's been almost a week since, and we still can't stop the tears. It's so painful, as if he was our own flash and blood. We have all lost a great leader and a VERY fine man. We miss him so much. It seems like all of us will have to look deep into ourselves, and try to be better people, for Rabin's honor, if not for anything else. He was that great of a person to admit the changes in Israel and our area and to realize that we have no other way but peace. We shall all follow his ideas. It's in our heart. SHALOM CHAVER.

May Allah have mercy on Mr. Rabin's soul, and give him the peace in the afterlife that he so sought in this life. Like all human beings, Mr. Rabin made some mistakes, but Allah is the only judge of those. Mr. Rabin was a hardworking man who stood by his beliefs and fought hard for them. His last belief was that "Enough was enough", and like everything else he did, he was working hard to bring about peace. Inshallah, his work will not have been in vain. Mr. Rabin's death is a great loss to both Israel and the peace process. Inshallah, this terrible tragedy will strengthen and hasten the drive for peace in the Middle East. The family of the late Mr. Rabin should be most proud of this man. Looking at the way Mr. Rabin conducted himself with his family, one can only gather that he loved and was dearly loved. May Allah give his family strength in their time of grief. Assalamu Alaikum - Shalom - Peace and Blessings!!!!
