I am so sorry for your loss. The world has lost a man who, in my opinion, surpasses the greatness of our own John F. Kennedy. His humility and total devotion to promoting peace in a country that has sufferred much violence has been an inspiration. I pray that tremendous good will come out of this awful thing, otherwise the Prime Minister's death would be for nothing. I pray that his death touched many more people around the globe than even his life did. May God bless you and keep you always. Shalom.

Dear Leah Rabin and Family, I was so astonished to hear of this awful tragedy. I can not stop thinking and talking about it. My sister, who made Aliyah 8 years ago, wrote a very powerful message to all of us. It was written so wonderfully. I personally know that this has resparked my desire to want to go spend time in Israel for an extended period. A very close friend of mine, who is Israeli and was living in the US at the time, has since moved back to Israel. I truly feel as if this will only keep moving the peace process forward. Yitzhak Rabin was an inspiration for the entire world and he truly was a warrior in war, but most memorably, a warrior for peace. Your granddaughter's eulogy was beautiful and made a lasting impact on the entire world. May you and your family be blessed and may G-d's prayers be with you during this very difficult time. Truly, Marci M Block

This was an appalling act. As a Christian, I can't help but feel a deep kinship and reverence for Judaism and the best that a Jewish state stands for. I have strongly supported the peace process, and pray daily that it will not be reversed. It is horrifying to see these narrow-minded, exclusivist perversions of the Jewish faith and the Christian faith coming to the fore in both Israel and the USA. In both cases, people (out of reasons of fear and hatred) choose to espouse only those parts of their religious tradition that condemn and exclude, which means putting blinders on in order to not have to deal with the larger picture of a loving and inclusive God who always refuses to allow us to take our religious allegiance as a kind of "entitlement". To the Rabin family, please accept my condolences. God bless you and keep you.

and religious leaders seek the benefits of appealing to radical fringe
groups
and then shrink back in mock horror when the logical conclusion of
their words
comes to fruition. Not all opponents of the peace process have behaved
this
way, but too many of them have been attempting to reap the benefits of
such
behavior. In a very real sense it is a pact with the Devil that can
only
come to harm them and all people of good will.

My wife and I just returned from a 40 day trip to Israel. We stayed at an apartment called 'Noah's House' that had a good view of the Knesset. Although we (my wife and I) did not necessarily agree with Mr. Rabin on his politics or the direction of the Peace Process. we also do not condone what has happened. We heard about the shooting and the death at the time I was reviewing a video tape made at the ICEJ 'Feast of Tabernacles' in which he was the principle speaker that evening. The tape was about the middle of his speech when we heard the news. Our hearts go out to the Rabin family. Even though we did not always agree with his politics as we do not always agree with those of our own country's, I feel that he thought he was indeed doing the right thing. I apreciate he and others that have the courage to stand up for what they believe and if there is a disagreement, that is what the voting ballet box is for. Again, please accept our condolences and our prayers for your family and the country of Israel. We hope that we can once again come to Israel next year. We appreciate your country and 'ALL' its people. Sincerely, Reid and Carol Bristor Melbourn, Florida

My housemate and I were recently watching the movie, "Star Wars". In this movie, as Luke's teacher, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is battling Darth Vader, he says to him, "If you kill me, I will become more powerful than you can ever ima- gine." Obi-Wan's words are fulfilled when Vader kills him; as part of the life Force, Obi-Wan can now exert a greater influence on Luke than when he was alive. So I think and hope it will be with Yitzhak Rabin. My hope is that he will become a martyr for peace and his death will lead more Israelis to support the peace process, since, I believe at the time of his death, there was not as much support for the process in Israel as there had been initially. Although it is a very sad circumstance, my hope is that something good can come from Rabin's death, so that his life and his work toward peace with the Arabs will not have been in vain.

Boldly, let us stride into the Light of a new age where Friendship is born, And Together we can show the World What a wonderful place it can be When we open the golden door, And allow Peace to finally fly free. Imagine a place such as this. Hand-in-hand, this We can achieve. Though it is time for me to move on, The Dream passes into your care. What We have begun still remains. Yitzhak Rabin was one of my few real heroes, ever since the Six-Day War. I was 15 years old at the time, and I still remember how excited all my high-school classmates and I were at the time about the recapture of old Jerusalem. He really was one of the great leaders of my people, both in war and in peace. As a Jew, I feel like this is a death in my family - and having lost an uncle last week, I actual- ly felt worse about this, especially the way Mr. Rabin died.

I feel really sad that the leader of Israel died and if I could do anything it would be to say that I thought that Mr. Rabin was a very special person, and I wish he had never gotten killed. And if I could, I would come to his grave and say how sorry I am. And if he was still alive I would tell him that he was the most special person in Israel. I would say to him and his whole family that they are very special to me. And I would like to come to Israel and see his grave.

Words are inadequate to express our sadness at the cowardly assassination of this brave man who battled for peace. The extremists (Jews and Arabs) cannot prevail; the only hope for Israel is peace with its neighbors. Long live the honorable memory of Yitzhak Rabin. Long live the peace process; it cannot be stopped by bullets.

I wish to extend you, Leah, and your family my deep condolences on behalf of myself and my family. At age 38, I'm Jewish and I hope to visit Israel someday and pay my respects to your husband at his grave. There's not enough in the world to say how much he is loved and respected. The crime is unspeakable, inexcusable. When I saw you, Leah, on TV at his funeral, I felt as if I was at your side and consoled you. If in fact we were friends, you would find that I'm worthy of friendship. Yitzhak is now a giant among giants such as Abraham and Moses. His light will never be extinguished, ever. Shocked and horrified by this brutal expression of hate. This murder of a great man has made us sad and afraid for our beloved country. We pray this will not stop the process of peace who filled us with hope in the past few years. We mourn each time one of us is mudered by those who do not believe in such a basic thing as peace and here we mourn even more at the thought that a Jew, a religious Jew, could do such a deed. Let us have peace in the world.

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion. Around 2p.m. California time, I watched in amazement as a flock of a hundred white birds flew up from a lagoon as I was listening to some Middle Eastern music on Shabbat afternoon. I feel so sad about humanity. How long will we have to face the death of martyrs like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Itzhak Rabin and so many others? Don't blame the security. Unless one lives locked alone, death will always be inevitable if a determined enemy elects his death as the first goal in such person's existance. Kennedy, Reagan even the Pope got shot. Only by luck or God's will (more likely in the last case) did the two last survive. las case maybe)

He was courage and strength
he was love and compassion
He began along a path to peace
a path which took him from us
Let's renew that path in sureness and in pride
in knowledge that his spirit lives
And help to heal our wounded hearts
by bringing peace where bullets lie

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the prime minister's death. it upsets me no no end that there are jews out thre that feel that there is anything that can justify taking the life of another Jew. i can only imagine that the people that did this must be out if their minds.

Although I had reservations about the pace and partners in the Peace Process Yitzhak Rabin was a man of honor and principle who had the courage to consistantly act on his convictions. This is a man who deserves profound respect and humble admiration. I am sorry he is lost to my son's generation and hope they can take heart and courage from his example.
