As we strive for a greater peace in the Middle East region, it is unfortunate that such great peacemakers like Mr. Rabin must perish as casualties to prejudice and hatred, and fear of a new freedom. To his family I extend my condolences, and assure them that there is a vast majority, both here in the United States and around the world, that believed in what Mr. Rabin was trying to accomplish and will fight to continue his efforts at an eternal peace in such an unstable region of the world. May he rest in peace with the Almighty.

We honestly think, this is an enormous tragedy. Prime Minister Rabin gave us both a deep feeling of security, of a father who guards us, and takes full responsibility on everything in the country. Therefore, we both felt as if a very close relative of ours died. We are also extremely ashamed of our society who reached this phase. Someone, who was "one of us", a jew, murdered Rabin. We blame ourself for letting such a creature (creatures) grow up in our society.

But I also do not like this site, because I feel it is a manipulation of human feelings/ Greif, like peace must be made by talking, looking, touching - and not by massive letters and big words. I think all the big words - from both sides - led in a way to what happned. Maybe we forgot we are all just small human beings - with are own little moments of happiness and greif and when we go back to talking to each other like human beings things lik this WILL not happen again!

Dear Leah, Dalia, Yuval, Noah and the other grandchildren of Yitzhak and Leah: We, Zvia and Ehud Greenspan (Grinshpan) are sending our condolence via the Electronic-Mail. Both of us were born in Israel to Zionist pioneers and were educated in the spirit of the labor movement. In fact, Zvia's father, Yeshayahu Sher, was one of the teachers of Itzhak Rabin in Beit-ha-Hinuch in Tel-Aviv (before he was transferred to beit-ha-Hinuch in Rehovot; he since lives in Kefar-Bilu). We admired Itzhak and his enormous contribution to our country and nation. We were proud of his leadership and wish that the peace process will continue to success. We were also terribly shocked to realize that an Israeli can do such a terrible thing. Thus we wish that Itzhak's death will bring a change in the Israeli society -- putting end to violence in public debate and not allowing use of violence instead of democratic processes.

Beyond utter grief and bewilderment, one can find some consolation in the reawakening of a public sense of responsibility to preserve and protect our collectivity as a democracy striving for peace. Particularly heartening is the spontaneous reaction of thousands of children and youth, assembling with seriously sad complexions, lighting candles, crying together and contemplating alone, singing and making music, painting and writing, leaving symbolic mementos. These are truly youth-cultural expressions of our youngsters' authentic patriotism in its best sense. Let it last, so that youngsters' sentiments, rather than lagging behind the adults, may once again mark the avantgarde for our society.

my sense of outrage and anger at this murder are hard to express, as the world has been a cold and cruel place for a number of years now. the jewish people, in the creation, or rather the recreation, of the state of israel in many ways became what is hated most in people, and for this i have grieved and fretted and prayed that israel would stand and prevail. i understood, though i found it abhorrent, the lengths to which the leaders of israel had to go in order to protect their people. and i agreed with it. and never did i expect to still be living when years of mistrust and hatred were put away for the promise of peace, never did i think that israelis and arabs would sit across from each other and meet as equals, as neighbors, as human beings. never did i expect the people who had been killing and brutalizing each other for years would talk to each other about sharing, about joining, about love. the blood of an entire world could burn with this promise, and for a while it did. i never thought it could happen. but it did happen. it happened. and for that, a man is dead, the man perhaps who led the terrified peoples of many countries into the light of a new day. i will never forget that man is a great and subtle work, and that prime minister rabin, as human as the rest of us, did the hard things to help all of us. shalom, prime minister Yitzhak Rabin. peace and long life to your shade, to your courage, and to your family. -roland f. smith

i was very upset 2 hear and c the murder, that took away from us the 1 true and greatest leader and israel's best prime-minister. i was also very touched by the speech that rabin's grand doughter noa took during rabin's funeral. it was the most moving speach i have ever heard and i feel for her and her pain, and the pain of all yotzhak's family (as do all the ppl of israel). i also would like 2 say that the very very small minority that speaks kindly of the devilish murderer and the murder itself are not worth talking into consideration in this time of mourning, but i strongly suggest that they are put out of law (like chach movement) and put behind bars. i trouly am sorry and would like 2 send my outmost deapest condolences to the rabin family in hope that u, yitzhak's family, will continue 2 b as strong as u have been until now, and i hope it will not injure the peace prossess. may he rest in peace, and i 4 one will visit his grave every year.

Utter shock at the realization that the "self-evident truth" that jews do not kill other jews for ideologi- cal reasons was probably just a myth. The last time we had a civil war, David and Solomon's kingdom was divided in two and conquered piecemeal by foreign powers; last time we had internal strife between two religious/political movements, the Romans captured Jerusalem and destroyed our Temple; last time we killed a political leader, the remainder of the jews was exiled from Judea. When will we learn from history?!

The fire inside a man's soul is put out by a bullet, just as a light is put out by a single puff of breath. It not only pierced him through the chest, but it also pierced the very hearts of us who knew of him, his accomplishments, and his endeavor for peace. He helped set the example for all of us to be a messenger of peace. Although we all do not agree on the way he tried to bring about peace, I think all of us would agree that we share an emptiness deep inside. I offer my deepest condolences to the immediate family. I am sad. We all are sad that a great man had to be forced to give up his efforts toward peace -- not only in Israel, but for all the world. For when the world witnesses peace in the land G-d gave to us, the world will know peace. May G-d comfort you who are saddened.

We would like to mention that even though the assisnation was a horrible crime, we are not seeking revenge, as probably do not most other left-wing supporters. What IS of importance is how assisinations like that can be prevented, and how the peace process can be continued to its full completion as it would have had Rabin lived.

To all who mourn the death of Israeli Prime Minister
Yitzhak Rabin:
I share with you my grief and deepest condolences.
Growing up in Israel (my family being part of the diplomatic corps.) I
share a special affinity to and concern for the socio-political issues
plaguing the region. I witnessed firsthand the antagonisms and tensions
that exist[ed] between the Jewish and Palestinian communities. During
those years ('76-80; '86-90) Yitzhak Rabin, the Labor and Meretz
Parties
(among others) were really the only voices of reason in the Knesset
which
ultimately won the State of Israel a cordial and respectable (if not
final)
peace with the Palestinians. In a parliament dominated by hawkish
sentiments, Rabin's (then bold) ideals was the catalyst which propelled
the Middle East peace process into new heights and expectations. For
this
I admire and respect the Israeli Prime Minister.
Signed,
Geoffrey B. Prudencio

To Mrs. Rabin, her children and grandchildren - In your deep sorrow and pain I know that I cannot comfort you in this time of unfathomable loss. But my thoughts are very much with you. To my fellow members of the Jewish Community - We must each do our part - however small - to heal the destructive divisiveness within "the family". Our tradition enjoins us to "choose life". In choosing life, we must choose Peace - amongst ourselves, with our neighbours and, as Mr. Rabin so wisely said, with our enemies. Let us honour his memory by cherishing the candle of peace which he lit for us and ensuring that it is never extinguished.

The man who assasinated Mr. Rabin did not only kill a person. He commited a ceime against a nation and has to be judged accordingly by men and Lord. Israel will never be the same again. It is amazing that in such a short time this country lost two of it's graetest personalities. It's also amazing that these two people lived so closed to each other. In the same street. One was Mr. Sasha Argov and the other Mr. Rabin. The first was a composer, the other a worrior. It is the nature of this nation to link the book and the sward. "SAFRA & SAIFA" as they say in Hebrew. We have lost two giants of our contemporary history. Their will - shall remain with us forever.

A lot was already said and written in the last sad
days.
I would not like to have been an opponent to the whole process Itzhak
Rabin G.R.H.S. has started. I'm sure I would feel terrible right now.
I am happy I did not have to change (or to think of changing) my mind
in the last days as I have always supported his efforts.
He left us when he was at the top of his carreer and in a real DYNAMIC
of Peace Process and that is what makes it harder for us.
He was always there on TV, in the newspapers, running and working hard
and we got used to seing him and then , suddenly .......
He will always stay an example for me, of a man who was able to deal
with the greatest of our times (as he is one of them) and in the same
time,
knew how to be simple, living amongst his people in a Ramat-Aviv
building with his family.
I just hope the coming generations will not think we have been
idolising him as it is hard to believe unless you lived these times of
peace making.
When I will have children, I will do my best to describe Mr Rabin's
work and to make them feel how difficult it was then (I mean in
1992/95) to do was he
succeeded to do. ANd I hope they will not entirely realise : It'll mean
that peace is so strong that it makes you forget how it was before.
There is a lot more to do, Itshak Rabin, please keep an eye on us and
on our leaders.

Dear Mrs. Rabin & Family, We are still in shock over the cold blooded murder of your husband and father. Although we disagree with the manner in which the government is handling the peace negotiations we cannot ever condone murder. We are all Jews and Jews may argue, we may be stubborn but this was a real chilul hashem. You are hurting and certainly bitter, but we ask you to honor your husband and father by taking the high road. Please do not stoop to the level of blaming all religious people for the act of one insane person. We have lost many friends who died fighting at the Suez canal in 1973 and you should only realize how deeply we religious people love our land and our people. It is our desire to go on aliyah in 3 years. We do not want to come to a country that is divided by hatred. Rav Kook loved all the citizens of Israel, be they religious or not. Please understand that many of us are also in pain because of your husband's and father's murder. We are hurting because he has become the 201st victim of the peace process, but his life was taken by one of our own, and this pain is more difficult to bare. Mrs. Rabin, as difficult as it might be for you, this is the opportunity to help heal the wounds. Please take the high road. Help the healing process instead of stoking the coals of the fire of hatred. Hashem yenachem etchem im kol mitablei yehuda veyerushalayim. Sincerely, Judy & Mark Frankel & Family

No one can possibly say anything that could lessen the personal pain the family feels. But know that all of us share in the public aspect of that pain, for a great hero of the Jewish people has been cruelly taken from us -- a man who embodied all that is best in our teachings. The Fellowship of Recociliation, an international peace group, has sent me a copy of its condolences, which I shall share with my congre- gation, all of whom join in expressing our condolences. We pray that Yitzhak will not have died in vain, that Israel will know true Shalom, and that with that Shalom will come a measure of personal healing for you as well.

The tragic death of Mr. Yitzhak Rabin made us understand things that we could not understand before. We all wanted peace, but some of us did not find the way to do it. Yitzhak Rabin understood it long time ago... The intereviews we saw on TV, the papers we read, all of them are now look diferent. The good way - Yitzhak Rabin`s way - is now our way. Since he is not among us today, we must continue his way. His holy spirit is watching us. I hope we will continue this way - P E A C E !!!

I am sorry for another "casualty of peace". The loss of ANY Jewish life, no matter how important his/her station in life is a tragedy. However, please don't use this as a platform to attack those who disagree with the peace process in its current form. They are no less deserving of having their opinions heard and no less interested in seeing a secure, safe, prosperous Israel at peace with its neighbors.

The bad guys win another one, but it doesn't have to be a PERMANENT victory. With the grace of God, human beings all around the world will someday be able to live in peace together. Occasionally, we have been sent assistants, even knights, in this quest: Rabin, John and Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Anwar Sadat, Abraham Lincoln, the list is endless. Though we have slain many, their works shall not be ignored, nor their lives given in vain.

I deeply feel like an orphan who lost a father and a great leader whom I trusted and supported so much. Let us learn to react stronger and quicklier against the writings on the wall and not just look at them, or even close our eyes as refusing to see. Yitzhak Rabin, from wherever you are, please keep this country from loosing it's ways.

A martyr for peace - Prime Minister Rabin's life came to represent the journey of the State of Israel -- a tough, violent beginning, struggle and war... only to reach the realization that achieving peace is the greater risk... the bigger danger. May his towering achievements guide us all into Israel's next 50 years...

family of General Rabin and to the good people of Israel. We too, know
the pain of losing a hero in the attack of a coward. I know the people
of Israel are by nature gentle and lovers of peace, and will not let
the actions of a few decide the future of the whole. May you find no
other obstacles your path as the promise of peace grows everstill.

The murder of Rabin left me empty. Now I know He was a symbol for the Israeli in me. In most of us. Rough, fighting, honest, straight forward, bully, young; very young, clumsy, dyslectic, bright, swift. This murder killed the Israeli in many of us. We are not the same as a nation, as individuals, as members of a congregation. I cannot forget how clumsy he was. He was our beloved clumsy. The clumsy in all of us. We loved laughing at his clumsiness. Yet, he was courageous enough to follow the difficult route of following the foreseen and designed by others peace making with the Palestinians. There are of course some artificial sweeteners: he was old and had a wonderful and full life, and his death would probably make peace making easier, but, the loss is enormous, almost unbearable.

Adonai, my friends... The most sad thing in everything, is that in my job a lot of leftish people really liked this madness... what the hell that stupid guy wanted to say ? He wanted a war ? tsc... at last in Korea, people protest burning themselves... not the few wise men who dare fight for peace... the men who chose when to fight, and when NOT to fight... Your life was long and prosper, Mr Rabin. Rest in peace. Carlos. If I had the right, I should tell the S'hma Ysroel, but...
