The enemies of peace can kill the peacemaker -- for our bodies are all fragile -- but they cannot kill the idea of peace which is embraced by the people. They can kill the visionary and the leader, he who grasps the moment and sets the direction, but when the deed is done, it is left to the rest of us to be the completers of peace and finish the job. Now it is our turn. Thank you Yitzhak, for your courage and vision and direction. Now it is our turn.

I met Mr. Rabin once many years ago when he was the Ambassador to the United States. Contr ary to his public image, I found him to be a warm and compassionate person. Not only has Israel lost a Prime Minister, but the world has lost a truely rightous man. I grieve with the Rabin family, as I grieved for the loss of my own parents. With Mr. Rabi n's passing a small piece of every Jew has suffered. May his death cause all people of all faiths and beliefs to find solace in the understanding that we must strive to fulfill the dreams of this exceptional soldier who having seen the horrors of war, tot ally committed himself to the search for peace. Though nothing can diminish pain of his family and friends they may find some relief that his Death as his Life was a tribute and proof of everything he believed in. He was a soldier of Peace and he will be. Rabin's death has also shown to the Jewish people in Israel and elsewhere that we are not THAT different. Jews can kill Jews... With similar justifications. May that teachs us something... Yitzhak Rabin had heroic life. He had a death of a martyr. I hope and pray that was not in wain.

I came to Israel for the first time this past summer on a six week program after my college graduation. I fell in love with the land, the spirit, and the legacy of our people, and have been aching to return ever since. Prime Minister Rabin was a visionary; a leader dedicated to forging paths through the darkest of forests that others would call unpassable. One of these paths was laid in war and led to Israel's sustained soverignty as a nation; the other was laid through embattled times and led to peace. Todah, and Shalom.

I send my condolences to you, Leah, and to your children, and to your grandchldren. Your Yitchak rests in peace with all those before him who have dared to fight for freedom. It is the similarity of the lives of Rabin and Arafat that I beleive made this peace between enemies possible. They were both born in Palestine, and spent their lives in armed stuggle to protect the land that both claim as their home. They both have commited the basic mitzvah of loving our neigbors as ourselves . Noa's words touched me deeply. My zadie was also Yitzchak (Feldman), and as a zadik he also provided the fire in the camp. My mother used this fire to teach me and my brother to see this light as justice. Your loss is felt by all those who have work ed for justice and peace in the Middle East, and for those who fight for freedom throughout the world. All those in the diaspora mourn with Palestinians and Isrealis who are Jewish and Christian and Moslem, who beleive that peace is possible. In 1982 I w orked in the hospital iin a Palesitinian refugee camp outside of Tripoli, Lebanon. I had to be able to see the conditions for myself. At that time it was clear that only a people who had been condemed to camps could condem others to conditions such as t hose. At that time it was impossible to envision Palestinians and Isrealis living togehter AGAIN in peace; all from the same ancestors, walking the land together as we have done for thousands of years. It has been clear that the settlers, and followers of Kahane, and Hamas have joined forces to stop the work of Rabin and Arafat. The assasin did not act alone; the hatred of Sharon and Netanyahu and Meridor for the Palestinians, and their racism have worked together to create the conditions for this mome nt. It is at this moment that I can hear Malcom X on the day that Kennedy was assassinated saying that our chickens have come home to roost. In America as in Isreal, rather than blaming people named Farakan and Arafat, we need to neutralize the hatred of poeple named Rosenthal and Amir.

We are still left trying to find the answers to why we rewarded him with our bullets when he rewarded us with our land, and pride . I am sure the people of Isra el are left today with the same confusion and from where I stand 14 years away from our ordeal, I am afraid they will never find an answer .

May God bless all of you, our friends, in Israel. Four years before I was born, we lost our beloved President Kennedy to thoughtless violence. From the pain and sorrow of today, will triumph the hope and vision that all those who died f or the cause of peace. As an Irish American I thought of these words: "May the earth be soft under you when you rest upon it, tired at the end of the day, and may it rest easy over you when, at the last, you lay out under it; May it rest so lightly over y ou that your soul may be out from under it quickily, and up, and off, and on its way to God." I know now more than ever that some day I will bring my children to visit the holy city of Jerusalem. When I do they will play with Jewish, Moslem, and Christian children...They will not understand when the old men weep remembering days of hate and bitter ness that have long since passed... -William S. Israel is a better place for having had a great leader like Mr.Rabin. It is a sorry day for the world when a man such as he is taken from us by a fellow jew. I cannot begin to understand how this murderer can not only kill a fellow jew but have the gall to tell us that Hashem told him to. This murderer will surely have to answer to a far higher court than any that man can hold. My deepest condolences to Mr. Rabins' family and to the Sate ofIsrael. People the world over, both Jews and non-Jews morn the loss of a great leader and believer in the good of mankind.

Setting my views of Mr Rabin aside, I would like to extend my condolences to the people of Israel . We the Egyptians had to pass through this tragedy 14 years ago .We were also left confused trying to understand why we were burying the man who fought for us as a brave warrior, and then guided us to peace as a great peace maker. We are still left trying to find the answers to why we rewarded him with our bullets when he rewarded us with our land, and pride . I am sure the people of Israel are left today with the same confusion and from where I stand 14 years away from our ordeal, I am afraid they will never find an answer .

Although, I am not Jewish, I feel a great loss for all the world. I am greatfully sorry at the loss of such a great leader. This world has become a mockery of natural rights. In escence, it is a hostile plan we walk on. Yitzhak was one of the few in this world who help the peace candle high. His effort has not been eliminated by the assasination, only slowed. Peace will prevail. But, it will take all of us to make it happen. Yitzhak will be missed and known as one of the greatest leaders.

It is said of the death of Yitzhak Rabin that a Jew
killed
a Jew.
But anyone who dares to point their finger into the face of
the Most Holy One and say, "He told me to do this sin" is
no Jew!
The Jew Paul of Tarsus of the tribe of Benjamin said it
best. "Not all who are of Israel are Israel nor are they
all children of Abraham because they are his descendants.
It is not the children of the flesh who are the children of
G_d, but the children of the promise." (Romans 9:6-8)
Yitzhak, may your heavenly Father embrace you and may
you at last experience in His loving arms the peace you so
fervently longed for.

Rabin and others had the courage to think about the children of the Middle East and the legacy of peace that his generation could leave them. I can not understand why we, as human beings, continue to kill anyone who comes to us offering peace? We have done so throughout the ages: Jesus (I am a Christian), Gandhi, Anwar Sadat, and now the great Mr. Rabin. Perhaps it is becau se we are cowards and can not face up the changes that peace requires of us. When someone calls us to peace, they are really calling us to humility -- to accept that another opinion may be just as valid as our own. Humility requires changing our charact ers, and this is the most difficult thing of all. Rather than change, we lash out at the messengers of peace. Mr. Rabin was a great, great man. I am certain that he knew the possible consequences of making a stand for peace, which makes his sacrifice all the greater. He deserves our utmost respect, and his family deserves our continued love, concern, and prayers . If only the world had more men like Yitzhak Rabin... Thank you Mr. Rabin for your example. I am not an Israeli, nor am I a Jew. But I am a big fan. I hope that my life can make as much as a difference on this troubled world as Mr. Rabin's did. With all sincerity, Christopher Garland

It was with much shock and dismay that I learned of the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin. It's very difficult to believe that in this late stage of our civilization that the world is still plagued by those who possess the will of hatred and destruction. I believe in principle and I have much respect for those who feel equally committed to their principles as I do, even as they differ. However, there is always room for discourse; and if there is none, space should be made. Viole nce deters efforts to create that space, no matter how just one believes one's cause is. Prime Minister Rabin was truly a man of courage, a true Sabra in the spirit of Israel. I grieve his death and pray that his efforts were not for nought.

Somehow saying Kaddish feels inadequate. It is perhaps a time to revisit the Days of Awe, to look into one's heart again and seek forgiveness for wrongs done to others. To those who preach violence against the peace-seekers on both sides, we beseech you to think again. Ask again what God demands of you, of all his children. It is foremost Shalom or Salaam: Peace be unto you, PEACE BE UNTO YOU, and unto your children a nd your children's children. Enough shedding of blood and tears, enough.... David Efron

The only condolence now for his family and for his people is what he left us, the most important thing Israel needs, the hope for peace. There is only left for me to wish that his work for peace in the middle east will not remain unfinished, and that his vision for a peacefull Israel will be carried on by his followers. By having the guts to understand that whuman life are more precious than land makes his for me one of the great leaders in the history of Israel. Yitzhak Rabin was the light at the end of the tunnel. Because of him and the rally on Saturday night I had a strong feeling of hope for our country. Now that hope is gone. The problem we face is not making peace with our arab neighbors. That is the easier part. The real problem is making peace with ourselves. I can not grip the fact that a jewish man, my age, form my city, living a few hundred meters from my home, baring a chilling resemblance to my name, would take away the only hope this country had ever had to become a place I can live in peace. I send my warmest condolences to the Rabin family, and may they pass this traumatic time with the knowledge that they are embraced by the whole world. May they realise that they were the ones who kept the great man going so strong at every minute of his l ife. They were his true inspiration, and they are an inspiration to us all.

We want to express our condolances to the family of Yitzhak Rabin and to the State of Israel. This tragedy has been paralyzing to the entire world, especially to those people who wish for peace. He was truly a visionary and ahead of h is time. This tragedy is reminiscent of the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. We always seem to lose our best in the cause of a peace that we never seem to attain. Again, our sincere condolances.

I deeply wish there were something profound and comforting to say to you. I know that I miss his presence, and I never had the privilege to have met him. There is no good way or right time to go, but remember that although he went sudd enly and too soon, he left this world in full command of himself, a strong presence, at the end of a happy day, and of much achievement. It appears now that even in death, his influence will be felt and his work continued. It is given to few to leave mo re than a name behind

Having met Mr. Rabin several times since our first meeting in '72, I know his heart was in the right place. He was a prince among men and I share your grief. I do not share his political views any longer, but assasination is never the a nswer. Ignorant people use violence instead of words, instead of their voices. I am sorry that your loved one had to suffer because of another's inabilities.

Dear Mrs. Rabin:
Please allow me to express, and accept, my sympathy for the cowardice
murder of your husband. Despite what Amir whould like to claim, he is
nothing but a criminal. He and other degenerate cowards who appeal to
violence, as a means to face adversity shoul
d know that the physical elimination of a body does eliminate the ideas
that the eliminated body carried. Those will remain for ever.
Violence is an American trait. But the CIAs and MOSADs once again
learned that what goes around, comes around. May your husband's tragedy
be a reason for the mankind, all over the world, to sit down and
rethink its notions of how to deal with adversity a
nd conflict.

Our sincere condolences to the Rabin family on their terrible loss. Mr. Rabin was very brave in his pursuit of peace, and unfortunately, not all people want peace as badly as he did. If we had more people like Mr. Rabin, we would alre ady have world peace and terrorists wouldn't exist, for the person who killed him is indeed a terrorist, by any other name. The man claims God told him to kill Mr. Rabin; only the devil has such wishes for anyone.

On behalf on myself and my wife, we'd like to offer our sincere grief and solidarity with the people of Israel at the passing of Prime Minister Rabin. While we haven't been in agreement with all of the policies that the Labor government has initiated during the negotations with the Palestinians, there is no doubt that in the years to come, he took the steps that will guarantee Israel's survival as a Jew ish state through the 21st century. The very presence of 40 heads of state from around the world at his funeral shows the ending of the era of war and the beginning of Israel's future as a "light unto the nations". May that be so, for ourselves and our ch ildren.
